Simply put:
There is a spiritual need -
There are 1.3 million people that live in Maine and 1.1 million do not attend any type of church whatsoever. Unfortunately, those few that do attend a church in Maine, will not hear the good news of Jesus Christ because it is not preached in their church. That sounds like an unreached people group to us.
There is a physical need -
Maine is a poor state enduring tough economic times with no real industry to depend upon. Many are dependent upon the state to meet their needs. This provides the platform for followers of Christ with a servant attitude to be effective and heard. They will know we are Christians by our love.
There are few churches preaching the message of the Bible -
In our denomination, there are fewer churches in the entire state of Maine than the typical county association in the Bible Belt. This sounds like a field that is white for the harvest.
